EKOenergy for Germany
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Apr 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

EKOenergy is a network of European NGOs promoting renewable electricity. EKOenergy is also the name of the only international ecolabel for electricity. EKOenergy started in 2013, and from start, volunteers, and in particular EVS volunteers, have played an important role in its development. The volunteers are important contact persons between the EKOenergy Secretariat and stakeholders in their home country. This new project was a follow up of 9 earlier EVS projects. During the projects we hosted 2 German volunteers. - They particularly focused on our contacts with German, Austrian and Swiss stakeholders: NGOs, other standars, electricity seller, electricity consumers. - They updated our German texts and materials, and we actively made use of the social network Xing. - They made a course about green electricity in cooperation with the German Green Building Association. - They worked together with the Swiss development organisations Solafrica, to realize a climate project in Cameroon. We made a lot of progress. We welcomed a German member (The Global 100% Renewable Energy campaign), we started a cooperation with 2 German companies and we strengthened our ties with the German Green Building Association. All of these concrete results will have long lasting effects. The volunteers were embedded in the EKOenergy team (which is a part of the Environment Protection Department of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation).
