European Club is a project born by and meant for Skirotavas prison young prisoners. The project idea came when inmates started learing English language and were interested in raising both their knowledge of English-speaking culture and their self-study skills late 2008. Later discussions brought project development to the following main conclussions: 1) many languages and many cultures should be taken into account instead of one language and one culture; 2) 'European Club, as a positive model of life style, has to have membership statuss and be prestigious among prisoners; 3) acitivites in all four major project areas (such as sports, culture&music, opinion exchange, and national kitchen) focussing on six European target countries (Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France) should be subordinated to the project goals and objectives.So, "European Club" Project lasts 5 months; studies 6 European counties from geographical, political, cultural, and social points of view; involves Skirotavas prison young inmates in four ways (sports, music, social education, national kitchen), offering a range informal education acitivities such us sport trainings, musical rehersals, IT/ICT workshops, national kitchen workshops, forums&discussions, presentations; built on Cooperative Learning Theory in order to promote inmates' self-development, personal and Professional growth as well as Social Inclussion and European Citizenship.
