Einheit in bunter Vielfalt - interkulturelle und interreligiöse Jugendbegegnungswoche

20 young people from Latvia and Germany meet in the binational project "unity in variety - a cross-cultural and interreligious meeting" to collect and share cross-cultural experiences. Especially young people with economic and social underprivileged background are given the opportunity of participating and collecting experiences. The young people spend a week rich of activities and workshops. They get to know each other, develop confidence and can approach European and valueoriented topics creatively. The recent discussions and developments that show arising intoleration and the disrespect against foreigners necessitate activities for a democratic and participating Europe. To develop and strengthen the social skills such as tolerance and acceptability are the main aims of this week. Moreover conscious participation in development processes and decissions, the recognition of the chances that are provided by an individual European path of life, social integration and the strengthening of a European cooperation are the aims to be achieved. It is within important to create individual approaches to these topics. This will be ensured by the educational use of plastic and graphic arts and musical media. So everyone of the participants can be supported depending on its talents and interests. The young people organise an exhibition of their own works that is as individual and variegated as their personalities. The young people recognize the importance of a value-oriented, democratic and peaceful Europe for their own future.
