Einführung bilingualer Zweige EUROPA und MINT
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Einhard-Gymnasium, which is a secondary school offering higher education (A-levels) in the city of Aachen, will run bilingual classes in English starting in the summer of 2016. The pupils starting next year will have an increased number of English lessons during the first two years. After that, they will be able to choose from bilingual lessons in humanities or science. Because the need for teachers who are qualified to teach bilingual classes will increase year by year, 4 teachers will take part in CLIL-courses or combined CLIL/language courses in the UK during the course of the project. At the same time, 4 other teachers will be offered the chance to do job shadowing at our partner school Maaslandcollege in the Netherlands. This will lead to an exchange of ideas and material in the areas of ICT and bilingual teaching. The colleagues who take part in the project will present their ideas and material to the other teachers involved in the bilingual classes and to the ICT teachers. All these activities will be managed by the project team. The impact of bilingual lessons on the pupils will be a remarkable increase in language proficiency. They will get a certificate when they do their A-levels in bilingual subjects which is supposed to make it easier for them to apply at universities offering studies in English throughout Europe. Furthermore, the project will hopefully trigger further exchanges with schools from different European countries and other projects with an international background.
