Start date: Oct 5, 2014, End date: Oct 4, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main focus of the project was the continuation of the in March 2012 started further training concept for management development at state vocational schools in Middle Franconia. In addition, the training provide an insight into the possibilities how to create „Personal responsibility for school" or how the structure of the training concept is to build sustainably. 25 teachers who assume senior management positions within their institution participated the project. On the first day of the training the participants received a first input by the Director of the Institute of partner organization "ARQA-VET". What are the roles and responsibilities of the Austrian Reference Point for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education. Then the outline of the system vocational schools was introduced in Austria and supplemented with current data from the section-quality report of the Federal Ministry. Furthermore, the participants visited a vocational school with a focus on "Personal responsibility for school / school development projects". How does school development look like in practice? What are the key reform measures need to be introduced so that competence-oriented teaching is possible and the educational standards for new matriculation and diploma examination are respected? Also, it was of primary importance for the participants to see how the three levels Ministry - District – School operate and how their collaboration is designed concretely. On the second day there was a further presentation of the organization and the philosophy of the Leadership Academy (LEA). At the same time, the participants got to know the structure of a teacher training that meets the demand. In addition, the members received due to the reporting of a teacher who had graduated from the LEA, insights into how the everyday work of a "SQPM (School Quality Process Manager / -in)" appears at school. The headmaster emphasized how important this newly created post successfully supported the school in the school's internal quality development process. In the afternoon, a guided-tour was done by the United Nations headquarters. The third day was designed mainly with Good Practice Examples. First, we were given an insight into the "Peer Review in QIBB". One interested school applies for a "voluntary" external evaluation. Two principals reported on the process of peer review at their school. Unfortunately, this method is used very little of the Austrian schools, yet. In the afternoon the visit to a vocational school for wood, sound, color and paint took place. The headmaster spoke about the organizational structure of the school. His interlocutor, the responsible inspector of schools, expressed that it was important for the quality of the development process of a school, to have a focus on “Personal responsibility for school” and to give the institution much more leeway. On the last day of the training trip the focus was on the reflection. In small groups the members themed the concepts / conditions / needs of a successful school-quality concept in Austria and discussed how this concept could be implemented at their schools in Germany? In addition, a further outlook on future projects in the context of sustainable development of the quality of a school was carried out. Furthermore the general conditions with respect to a common guideline were defined. At the end the organizational activities within the framework of the Erasmus + -Project e.g. participants report, record - further work on the guidelines of the schools etc. were explained. In a follow-up event in November 2015, some members received more school's implementation options (best practice examples) to concretize their own school development process.
