Start date: Sep 20, 2014, End date: Sep 19, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are a College of Hospitality, Catering and Tourism, located in Alcala de Henares. We offer diplomas of Vocational Training and of Higher Education. We train future chefs, waiters, hotel managers and tourist guides. We have a total of three hundred students and 25 teachers. Our school is fairly small, we all know each other. As a general rule, our students have not had the chance to be abroad and their language level is quite low. They usually come from nearby villages, where they live with their families. The experience of living in a foreign country would be very enriching for them, both professionally and personally. We have taken part in the last PAP call, in the Leonardo and Erasmus programs (four and two mobilities). Besides, we have bilateral agreements with Accor hotels, in France, where some of our students do their practical training every year. Our project foresees the mobility of five students of vocational training and of two teachers, and is structured in three parts that match the three countries to which our mobilities are foreseen. FRANCE: This is our most important project. It includes the mobility of three students to do their practical training in companies and the mobility of two teachers. Our partner, the Lycee des Metiers Antonin Careme, is a college located near Paris. We met in 2012. Its teachers have visited us twice, and we have visited them once. This college has been experienced in the coordination of European programs for more than twenty years. Within the PAP, this year, we will send three students to do their practical training at a school that they have proposed to us. The teachers of the Lycee will be tutor-teachers of our students, together with the tutor that the different companies have assigned. Thus, our students will have all the needed support for the mobilities to be a success. After working several months with our partner we have decided that our project could be like this: -The mobility of three students to do their practical training in France, including a stay of a week at different colleges of Hospitality and Catering, so that they can meet students of their age and have a period of adaptation in a place similar to our school. In this way they will be able to better know their tutors at the Lycee and create links with other students, going further from the professional field. Besides, the stay at the Lycee will help to improve their French. - The mobility of two teachers: two of our teachers will spend ten days at the Lycee, going in depth in techniques that they master, such as chocolate and bakery arts. This project is based on the principle of reciprocity, so that we will also welcome French students and teachers. In this way, the whole school community will benefit. SWEEDEN: m:obility of one student for three months Our partner is a five star hotel in Stockholm, and its restaurant has been awarded with one Michelin Star. We will send one of our cookery students there with a Leonardo grant, from April to June 2014. We believe this is a great opportunity for her, and this could be the launch of her professional career because, according to Human Resources, it is difficult for them to find trained cooks. UNITED KINGDOM: Mobility of one student for practical training during five months. This is a new partner. The hotel belongs to the Spanish group of hotels NH and it is located in the heart of London. We had been working for five months in order to get a partner at the UK, which is a highly regarded country among our students. Students can stay at this hotel as long as they remain there for five months and as long as they have a European grant. We have the impression that, since our students might become future employees of this hotel, they will be well trained and looked after. We will organize information meetings for our students, have a fair and transparent selection process, prepare language course , meetings with families and former students and interview them when they get back. We hope that thanks to this experience the minds of our students will be more open, and that they will acquire professional experience, personal resources and self-confidence, and perhaps a job. Our college will benefit from the stay of our teachers in France, which will provide them with a valuable “savoir-faire”, as well as from the visit of the French teachers. Throughout the existence of this project, we will publish the different activities performed in our website. Besides, we will use the e-twinning platform so that a wide number of students and teachers can benefit from our activities and of the royalty free material that we may produce, especially in our meetings with our French partner.
