Efteruddannelse og kompetenceudvikling
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Studieskolen’s Department for Foreign Languages’ strategy for development and internationalisation has as its objective the consolidation and development of the quality in Studieskolen’s language teaching. With the international strategy, we would like to contribute to the continued development of Studieskolen’s competitiveness to both students and Danish and foreign companies. Studieskolen must be known as the company that knows the world. We must know something about how to cooperate and how to get on in other countries. We must be experts in language, culture and cooperation across borders. We must be the place where people come to meet a language and culture area, to prepare for a specific exchange abroad, and to maintain their language competences. In order to achieve and ensure the above-mentioned, we would like to expand our existing work with quality assurance, language screening and teaching, with a lasting and binding cooperation with selected European partners. With the exception of specific courses that will bring knowledge for the individual teacher and the school as a whole, we would like to exchange knowledge with European partners. We will be able to share and mutually develop knowledge about our core areas, and share knowledge in those areas that are our partners’ key competences. We would like to involve 30 of our 198 teachers and administrative staff in this comprehensive internationalisation strategy. Teachers of the so-called minor languages must meet colleagues in the neighbouring Southern Sweden in order to establish lasting cooperation regarding development of common material and quality assurance of their teaching. Teachers in the more common languages will attend methodology courses, courses in digital media and other courses that will both elevate the individual teacher professionally and can bring the whole school relevant knowledge about new methods. We share Studieskolen’s specific tools regarding digital media, tested and implemented at Studieskolen, with our partners in Sweden and Germany. At the same time, we get inspired by their concrete work with education of teachers through EUROLTA and DELTA. We want to exchange knowledge about quality assurance of concrete partners that work with more general quality assurance systems than we normally use for language teaching in Denmark. We send 2 teachers to a DELTA- training in order to expand Studieskolen’s commitment in the area of teacher training. Finally, we have made agreements for specific teaching courses in English in order to expand our activities to other European countries. Our Delta teachers must complete these courses, which are followed by a teacher training course for our Romanian partner’s teachers. The internationalisation strategy is rooted in Studieskolen’s overall strategy, and the results of each initiative will continuously be checked up against the strategy as a whole. We make a clear agreement on the implementation of all activities as a binding declaration between the employee and his/her direct superior. At the same time, Studieskolen’s decentralised structure ensures that all activities are rooted in the professional groups, so that there is a close and direct follow-up of the activities. We expect that the results of the activities in its entirety will contribute to making Studieskolen a language school that not only teaches 30 languages, but lives and breathes European language and culture. Teachers will get good knowledge of their country’s language and culture both from their training and as a product of a vivid exchange. We will become updated with the methods for language teaching, quality assurance and language documentation used in Europe. This knowledge is not only based on theoretical experience, but based on a vivid exchange with partners across whole Europe. We also hope to be able to expand our activities in business language and language documentation on the basis of good experiences and inspiration from partners. The strategy has a time horizon of 5 years, but this project will be a first and essential step to consolidate Studieskolen as a professionally founded and modern educational institution in a vibrant European network.
