Efficient and secure border between Hungary and Ukraine (HUSKROUA/LSP/003)

The overall objective of the project is to increase border efficiency and to enhance cross-border cooperation through the development of the supporting infrastructure at border crossing points and strengthening cooperation between authorities responsible for border management at management and executive levels. The specific objectives are to integrate the Beregsurány – Luzhanka road border crossing point into the international road heavy traffic system; to enhance the information exchange between Hungary and Ukraine in the area of law enforcement with institutionalising and stabilising a cooperation system; to ensure a more professional way of working methods and circumstances and to decrease waiting time for passengers; to ensure highly qualified staff on the same professional level on both sides of the Hungarian-Ukrainian border; to enable border and customs control of tourist groups travelling on River Tisa. The main activities are: development of border crossing point (Beregsurány – Luzhanka, Tiszabecs) through construction and renovation of border crossing point as well as equipping both sides with state-of-the-art technical means, furniture; establishing a CCP at Záhony; training of respective staff of Hungarian and Ukrainian border guards and customs. Expected Results: The estimated results are: development of Beregsurány – Luzhanka road border crossing point in order to establish similar infrastructure, capacity on both Hungarian and Ukrainian sides, establishment of Záhony CCP, improvement of technical, IT equipments on the established border crossing points; well and equally trained professional staff of both Hungarian and Ukrainian staff of border guard and customs; establishment of temporary waterway border crossing point at Vylok.
