The project concerned participating in a course TEL-Technology Enhanced Learning. The course included a wide range of topics connected with using ICT not only in teaching but also in shaping social skills, especially in communication with partners in other countries. The main aim of the project was gaining and improving, by the participant, ICT skills which could be used in managing school and for in-service trainings for teachers which showed them how to make the most of ICT as a tool of communication, teaching and studying. The participant of the course was a headteacher of primary and lower secondary school who was also a teacher of English with a bachelor's degree. He is a member of IATEFL Poland. In previous years he participated in language courses and study visits. The participation in the course had three stages. A pre-course stage included preparing materials depictig using ICT in teaching various subjects and the system of education in Poland. The next step was an active participation in the course, followed by producing and dissaminating materials from the course and organizing meetings for teachers and headteachers. The final stage was an assessment of the entire project. The results of the course were used: - in in-service trainings for teachers concerning getting and selecting information from the Internet, making friends with pupils from other countries, - for promoting schools' achievements - for participating in various projects and contests - for improving communication among school, parents and pupils, - for promoting the importance of students' and teachers' language skills in fluent exchange of ideas and experiences with partners from other countries. The main outcome of the project was acquiring knowledge and skills concerning ICT which were used in managing school, mentoring and monitoring teachers but above all training teachers how to efficiantly teach students making use of ICT in everyday life. The knowledge and experiences from the course passing on to teachers and headteachers of schools from Kostrzyn region contributed in more effective moulding pupils' skills to find and select information from the Internet and to rationalize information flow. Schools and local authorities in Kostrzyn region learned more about how to apply and account for national and European grants. The project also fostered cultural integration and European awareness of students and teachers. -
