At the Wilgetoren we educate young minds, who are entering the world of tomorrow. A very demanding world! With our Jenaplan program we give them a head start. We focus on research and analyses techniques, world orientation, teamwork and how to celebrate together. So the children will learn how to learn. Instead of only accumulate the basics. We would like to start with a new initiative, learning English not only to the older children, but right from the start of the childrens school careers. The support this initiative, three teachers are following the early English course. Starting English lessons in class 1 and 2 this year. Fifteen procent of the lessons should be in English by 2019. To further support the teachers, we would like to send them on creative methodology course, given in the United Kingdom. To let them experience the language, make them more comfortable with teaching in English and give them the necessary knowledge. We would like to include the internal supervisor in this course as well. So she can coordinate, support and monitor the rest of the team. The ultimate goal is to give world orientation lessons in English, with theme’s taken from the IPC method (An international method, used by a number of European schools). We are looking for a partner school in Europe, that uses this method as well, so the children and the teachers can exchange ideas and information in English. We think that, with these initiatives we can successfully implement English lessons, within 4 years.
