EduVision
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

EduVision is a project that stems form a need at the level of participants, of the organisation and of the local community of teachers and parents. It is a need to have a clear vision of what innovation in how we educate our children might mean. Babel Education has brought its contribution since 2009 at local, national and even international level in what concerns participative methods of learning and nonviolent forms of communication in education. However, our work with our target groups has missed a strategic vision based on a strong theoretical framework and on successful case studies where the methods we proposed have become part of functional systems. Participating to these mobilities will give our trainers the theoretical insights of Experiential Education, Deep Learning and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) directly from the source. (Tweemonds work in close connection with the Belgian researcher Fred Laevers, the father of Experiential Education, The International Intensive Training in the Czech Republic is the meeting place of the most competent NVC trainers, while Penny Vine in England has years of experience working with schools to transform them in compassionate communities ). Our trianers' need to learn from practical examples is beautifully covered by EduVision, a project through which six performant innovative schools in the Netherlands and England will be visited. At the level of parenting courses, we have relied heavily on inviting international or national guests due to our perceived lack of experience and training. EduVision is designed to bring improved facilitation skills, confidence and a vision of a possible contribution to the life of families in our community. The three mobilities we propose have been carefully chosen to serve the organisation and personal objectives of the participants. The 9 participants have different levels of experience in working with teachers and parents. Some of them have already trained teachers and youth workers in international events, others did so locally and two of them are at the beginning of their adult education career. All of them have clear learning objectives connected to these mobilities. For example, the experienced trainers will also deliver a 3 hour session on Storytelling in the Dutch mobility, so that they get a relevant learning experience.Based on the results of EduVision, Babel Education would like to offer an enriched curriculum in its teacher training sessions (which have up to now included training on storytelling and non-formal methods) and increase the frequency and quality of its Intensive Summer Week Teacher Training so that it becomes a landmark in the field at local and national level. We also would like to have more frequent parenting course which can be delivered by our own trainers. Last but not least we hope to prove performant enough to propose a common training for 2018 with Tweemonds (The Netherlands). These objectives as well as the dissemination events we plan to organize for our target groups will give the project visibility in the world of education locally, regionally and nationally. Because we work with partner schools in rural areas, we expect the impact of our learning will also reach teachers and children in difficult situations, for whom some of the methods we propose may become solutions to keep the enthusiasm for learnings. EduVision can therefore be for all stakeholders a spark of inspiration and confidence that if we all learn and become better at what we are doing, our children will have more chances to learn in compassionate environments where they are involved and enthusiastic.
