Edukacja bez granic ("Education without borders")
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the project "Education without borders" we will invite 10 volunteers from 5 countries (from Spain, Italy, France, Hungary and Austria) for the duration of 9 months between October 2015 and June 2016. The volunteers will work in different institutions of education: in Bialystok in Special School Complex nr 11 and Special School Complex nr 16, in High school nr 1 in Lapy, in The Mechanical School Complex in Lapy, in Kindergarden in Michalowo, The school complex in Gródek and Esperanto Association in Bialystok. In all of these places volunteers will work for different groups of local community: the disabled, children and youth, elderly people/ inhabitants of towns in general. We want to implement this project because we believe that we can have a positive impact on the development of education in our region. Together with our partners, we want to create a space for the development of education and show the benefits of a combination of formal education and non-formal, so that we can achieve better results and improve the quality of education. Besides, we want to encourage and motivate young people to participate in educational projects. We want that the partners participating in the project will increase the appreciation of cultural diversity and discover the benefits of working in an international team, will increase the number of international projects, will work more closely with local structures. Our activities are aimed to activate local community, to build a positive image of the international mobility projects and their recognition by community, getting to know the issues and interests of young people and encourage in participation in similar projects in the future. Volunteers will have the opportunity to acquire and develop the key skills that will increase their chances on the labor market: communication in foreign languages, learning to learn, interpersonal and social skills, intercultural competences, civic competence, initiative and entrepreneurship. The idea of the project was created based on the following needs of the partners of the project and the local community: lack of education that goes beyond standard - an expanded international elements, intercultural, innovative, motivating young people to act; unemployment, lack of experience, the need to prove themselves and become independent, the need for development; lack of experience with other cultures of the local community (contributes to the building of stereotypes and inappropriate attitudes towards foreigners), the need for the development of language competence; need of employees of the institutions for new methods and techniques at work; need for the development and bringing new challenges, not enough people to work with disabled children.
