Education for Tomorrow
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

III. gimnazija Split is according to its programme a scientific-mathematical secondary school. Through a process of self-evaluation of school we determined the main areas that we would like to improve, and these are the internationalization of the school and the introduction of creative innovation in teaching. With our teachers participating in different courses in Europe we plan to achieve international co-operation, to engage in new European projects, to give our school a European dimension and to enable students to explore all the opportunities that are offered to them in Europe. Professional development of teachers will make them adopt creative and innovative teaching methods, and prepare them to educate students of the 21st century. Students will be taught to increase the motivation to learn and develop key competences required in a modern European education and the labor market. School project "Education for Tomorrow" includes professional training of six teachers in the following courses: 1. "Best Practices Benchmarking" (teacher of Computer Sciences-Informatics) 2- "Coaching" (school coordinator/psychologist) 3- "English and Methodology: A 21st Century Approach for English Teachers" (English teacher) 4- "Reading the City" (psychology teacher) 5- "SMILE" (Schools Museums Internet Learning Education) (history teacher) 6- "Let's Tell Your Story in Edinburgh" (librarian /head of the drama group) Participants will gain professional training and learn new competencies that will become part of their everyday educational work with students. Innovative teaching methods and examples of good practice will enhance the school curriculum and the overall quality of the school. With the established contacts and communication with colleagues from European countries, other European projects at school will be launched and in such a way more students and faculty will have the opportunity to engage in other international activities. Knowledge about the process of internationalization of our school and innovative teaching and learning methods will be delivered to a number of teachers and students and will encourage them to get to know and use innovative approaches to teaching and learning and engage in international European events. This project represents the beginning of our long-term plan for the internationalization and modernization of school education.
