The Roma from Romania are in disadvantage from the point of view of education, discrimination is widespread, and education is affected by the chronic/deep poverty which is representative for the most of the communities. Children who manage to start school, often don`t finish the secondary level, and for this reason it`s really difficult for them to find a job later. To involve the Roma in the education, social and economic life, is necessary to achieve the objectives of the EU 2020 strategy, a process which supposed a change in the mentality of the educational institutions.Kálnoky Ludmilla Middle School from Valea Crișului proposes to organize the project: The outdoor and multicultural education in the same institution, during 20.12.2016 − 20.12.2017.The goals of the project are: to increase the rate of graduation of the primary and secondary school with 8−10% until the end of the scholastic year 2017−2018; to prevent absenteeism by bringing the school close to the family, to improve the school attendance with 8−10% until the end of the scholastic year 2017−2018; to develop the key competencies and skills of the teachers; to improve the quality of the teaching by the open-air intercultural education in the school. In the project, after a competition, five teachers were selected to participate at two training courses in Portugal and Malta. The courses will be organized in two periods: 20−28. 04. 2017 and 08−17. 05. 2017. The courses were chosen by paying special attention to the needs of the school, scholars and teachers: the multicultural education and outdoor education. The selected participants will acquire new theoretical and practical knowledge about interculturalism; will develop: communication in a foreign language, conflict resolution and democratic solutions in the class. The teachers will have the opportunity to get acquainted: with the outdoor education; with the different ways of teaching in the nature; with the interactive methods to stimulate the implication and participation of the students in open-air activities; and to learn more about the outdoor activities methodology. The possession of these competences will create the base of the interventional project, which sets as purposes the reduction of absenteeism with 8−10% until the end of the scholastic year 2017−2018, and the early school leaving of the pupils of our institution. The obtained intercultural and outdoor teaching experiences of the five participants, and the project`s results will be presented in the local and county pedagogical meetings, in special journals and sites (www.didactic.ro, www.slideshare.net), on the Erasmus+ on-line platform, E-twinning.The results of the project will materialize in the Curricula for prevention of absenteeism and early school leaving, which will induce the establishment of: an intercultural club, extra school activities related to healthcare, the programme entitled Dialogue in order to overcome generation gap.
