The “I.C.S. A. Gemelli” including Nursery, Primary and Lower-Secondary grade is currently committed to curricular improvement through projects and didactical experimentation and it is determined to make a significant improvement as to methodological innovation, and to give impetus to the process of internationalization of the school. The project "EDUC-@CTION WITHOUT BORDES" aims at providing teachers, who are more open to innovation and experimentation, training opportunities in Europe, in order to produce high quality learning outcomes for them and consequently, for their students, reinforcing their capacities and international scope.The objectives of the project, linked to the needs of the staff and consistent with those of the Erasmus+ programme are:• improving the teachers’ English language competence, and promoting EU’s broad linguistic diversity and intercultural awareness • learning new teaching methodologies, involving the use of ICTs• enhancing of teachers’ professional and intercultural skills to improve their work and activities in favour of students •promoting awareness of a European lifelong learning and gaining European certification of acquired experience •strengthening the European dimension in the school curriculum to promote a truly European school, offering activities and programmes that better respond to the needs of individuals, within and outside EuropeParticipants' profile: the mobility plan involves the Head teacher and a very active and highly motivated group of Primary and Lower-Secondary school’s teachers of different subject areas, capable of promoting innovation, enhancement of the school day‐to‐day teaching and learning organization and the sharing of their expertise with the other teachers. "EDUC-@CTION WITHOUT BORDES" is a two-year duration project with short term (five / seven/ten days) training activities starting from 4th July 2016 to 26th May 2018. The chosen activities relate to English language competences, ICTs for teaching, CLIL methodology, European project planning and structured study visits.The planned activities consist in the following phases: PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES • inclusion of the project in the “POF” of the institute and setting up of a project group to arrange and manage the training activities •preparatory sessions at school to support the participants before their leaving.THE ACTIVITIES DURING THE MOBILITY The training programme consists of 8 flows, 6 structured courses in Spain, Ireland, and Portugal and 2 structured study visits to schools and institutes in Iceland and Finland AFTER THE MOBILITY: •activation, monitoring and final assessment of activities as well as dissemination sessions of gained experience to the other teachers in our school, in other schools in the territory and regional teachers’ centres. •revision of the curriculum and programmes in the light of the new methodologies •the promotion of a conference on the implementation of a European Dimension in the curriculum for European Citizenship with the participation of the school board , of local schools, institutions and associations. The project envisages the following methodologies:•constant use of English as a lingua franca by attending international courses •learning to learn (inquiry‐based approach, situational analysis, case studies, global thinking) •comparing and building social, cultural and collaborative competencies among participants •sharing of best practice and approaches among participants •meeting and interacting with other teachers and experts thus creating a network among different schools and countries•use of a wide range of ICT tools to support the creation and implementation of digital teaching resources for a digital Web 2.0 classroom. •practical simulations based on the use of the services, database and documentation by the EU to help teachers on successful European Project Planning projects •observing and discovering on site(job shadowing) European educational institutions in sectors related to the participants’ profile and educational level and with specific educational and organizational concepts to promote high quality in teaching and learningThe planned activities are expected to bring positive and long-lasting effects on the participants:The expected impact in the short term consists in •the systematic, permanent and widespread introduction of modern teaching practices and a stimulating learning environment •the increase of student motivation, which aims at promoting full educational success •confrontation with other European schools; In the long term the project aims at containing school dropout, providing professional certification for teachers at European level and creating a more dynamic and engaging school model, thus making “ICS “A. Gemelli” a point of reference for other local schools. Furthermore its aim is that of contributing to the process of Europe unification.
