EDiDaV - Evropská dimenze dalšího vzdělávání učitelů Gymnázia Polička
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

EDiDaV Project aims at supporting the European dimension of further education of Polička Grammar School teachers. It follows up the past participation of our teachers within the individual projects of life-long learning programmes of COMENIUS. With respect to the prior satisfactory experience of many colleagues we would like to sustain and develop this way of enhancing the European dimension in education. Polička Grammar School is a comparatively small school in rather peripheral area on the border of two regions - Pardubice region and the Highlands. However it has always been the primary goal of our teachers to provide our students with as advanced and quality education as possible while preserving the traditional "family" atmosphere of our school. Therefore we pay great attention to further professional training of the teachers. We believe that life-long learning affects positively not only to the teachers themselves but also to their students who benefit from a better quality teaching. Presently, there is a wider group of teachers in our school who are interested in attending a course abroad. There are both language and non-language teachers. The participants of the specific mobilities will be selected from this group based on the above stated criteria and in accordance with the plan of the strategic development of our school. The project focuses on two main activities: Within the first activity we plan to send three language teachers to attend methodology courses abroad during the next two years. We consider such courses an integral part of professional development. These courses set in international environment offer exceptional opportunities to enliven and develop communication skills. As to the professional development of the teachers, the participation in the course will lead to employing new, modern methods of teaching languages. As a result it will be beneficial for the target group, i.e. our students. The modern active teaching carried out by a motivated and well-educated teacher is a key condition for successful learning process. The second activity should contain two mobilities of non-language (science) teachers. The intention is to establish a group of teachers in our school who would be able to use the CLIL (content language integrated learning) method in real teaching process within their subjects. It should lead to greater motivation of students to learn foreign languages. Furthermore, the teachers gain the chance to enlarge the portfolio of teaching methods, improve their langauge skills and create non-formal relationships with other colleagues from EU countries. These relationships can be subsequently used to exchange experience and plan future projects. Both, at the beginning and at the end of the project, as well as upon completing each mobility, we shall inform wide public about the results, mainly via the school web site and the regional press. This should enhance the school publicity and provide information on the activities and projects of our school.
