ECVET for Virtual Learning Professions

e-Learning has been around us since the Internet emerged. The beginning in programmed instruction and computer-based training has expanded to encompass distributed learning environments and virtual communities of practice. The introduction of new, interactive, web-based technologies, such as social media and smartphones have also had their impact on the idea of e-learning. Technological and educational advances have increased pressure on the further development and expansion of what may be generally called Virtual Learning, or VLs.The e-VIRTUE project took an in-depth look at VL professions, such as learning technology strategist, virtual classroom facilitator, blended learning curriculum designer, to mention but a few. To face up to this new reality, the e-VIRTUE project aimed at transferring research carried out by some of the project partners during the Ldv "EQF-Code" project and improved during the "EQF-iServe" project. "EQF-Code" developed a successful generic approach for linking internet-related jobs to eCF and EQF in accordance to the market needs, and a way in how to assign ECVET points to learning and training outcomes. e-VIRTUE developed European Role Profiles that are in compliance with the principles of the European metaframeworks EQF/e-CF and ECVET as well as Training Guidelines in the area of Virtual learning professions. After the field and desk research carried out by the partners in the participating countries, the 6 Job Role Profiles were defined: *E-learning Architect*E-learning Curriculum Designer*E-learning Content Developer Teacher*E-learning Content Developer Full-time specialist role*Virtual Classroom Facilitator*Online Tutor
