Échanges européens pour la validation, la valorisation et la dissémination des pratiques de lutte contre le décrochage scolaire
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Since twenty years, researchers of the Federal Structure of research (Learning, Training and Education; involving 257 researchers from 20 laboratories, five partners and the Rector, of the ESPE Toulouse), conduct researchs related to school refusal, school phobia, school failure, truancy, school dropout rates and the quality of life in schools. This research has involved tens of thousands of students, teachers, non-teaching staff of schools and parents, but also people of the local authorities and partner associations of schools. Experiments conducted from kindergarten to high school, have been many and generally effective. To cost efficiencies actions funded primarily by Europe, but especially to develop and transfer of the work to make them accessible to all educational communities, this project aims to assess the external validity of the shares of struggles against the dropout and improve the quality of school life in a widespread goal. Dissemination of valid actions is also a priority. Alongside these valuation procedures and external validation, the project aims to produce an electronic tool to aid in the diagnosis on pre-stall phenomena and school dropout. This project will also make available a database based on 240 variables collected by students in regular curriculum, students in specialized courses, teachers, non-teaching personnel, management staff, of course, but also the parents people of the local authorities and partner schools (associations, clubs ...). A diagnostic support software pre-leavers and school dropout is also dependent on the project. In this project, 20 partner institutions are involved. They are joined 22 others who are not part of this project, but will participate in assessment activities, validation, development and dissemination of results. This will produce a summary of the actions carried out; define the suitability of the balance sheet and the actions to be taken; share resources; validate tools in each country; of finalizing a diagnostic software and pre-stall analysis and dropout; develop a database on the stall and quality of school life; to establish valuation frameworks shares of struggles against the stall; to reflect on the transferability of each tool and how to implement it and finally develop strategies to releases results. The major impact of course for pupils for whom we strive to reduce the risk of dropout and improve their quality of life in the facility. Teachers also benefit directly since we are also developing strategies to improve their quality of work life, such as non-teachers. It is undeniable that students participating institutions will benefit from efforts to motivate and re-engage if necessary. The project aims to produce an external validation of the actions developed to fight against school dropout, generalizations opportunities will be offered by selected background characteristics. The number of students and school staff will be greatly increased. Regarding principals, project participants but also those who benefit from these later works, they will benefit from training, such as teachers, but also to a better understanding and awareness of the phenomenon. Materially, they also have the tools do not exist on the market, which will be a major asset in the conduct of the institution. For those who have never lived with action research experience, a new dynamic will be beneficial and certainly engage in effective future collaborations. In addition to training, teachers will have the opportunity to transform their practices and tools to reduce the risk of dropout and improve the quality of learning of their students. Transnational exchanges allow to share practical, if any, distributed and yet sometimes have surprising results. We don't neglect parents who directly benefit from this work and who will receive systematically a summary document in the original language
