Echange interculturel France/Maroc : entre musique et solidarité

The Urban Social Development Service and the Directorate of Youth and Sports of Grand Montauban (France - Tarn and Garonne) lead many actions towards fostering youth social mix to enable education.After various experiments, a group of young from Montauban and educational teams decided to do a project of intercultural exchange on music and solidarity with a group of young Moroccans in Larache (Morocco).In total, this exchange brought together 27 young people. It aimed to take distance from the consumerist logic and to act in a responsible and sustainable way.The main objectives are :• To conduct an intercultural exchange integrating several dimensions (social, generational ...) • To promote "living together" through respect, critical thinking, dialogue and openness to fight against all forms of rejection;• To continue a remembrance work (especially in connection with immigration) and make the link between the family culture and the territory through our project thread: music;• To promote civic engagement of young people who are totally the actors and motors of the project;• To raise and develop the concept of mobility (explore beyond the neighbourhood, the family circle, etc);• To develop solidarity actions;• To promote diversity and work on representations.- The group of young people from Montauban:A mixed group (8 girls, 7 boys) of 14 young people aged 14-17 years organized as a Junior Association (communication medium and seeking funding). Families are involved in the project.11 of them will come from families who have experienced a migration paths related to the Maghreb countries.In addition, they were also selected based on criteria related to the against poverty. Indeed, 11 young people have fewer opportunities :• half of young people (or their families) is derived from priority neighborhoods of urban policy• 7 families have a lower family quotient 700 € and some are minimum incomes• Some young people have learning difficulties and / or educational and were followed by specialized programs.The Moroccan youth group :13 young Moroccans aged 14-24 years (8 girls and 5 boys) were identified by the two leaders of the accompanying Sharif IDRISSI association located in Larache in Morocco. ADENS, a French association, made the connection between France and Morocco.Young people are musicians and the majority comes from disadvantaged families (8 of 12 youth). None have traveled and stayed in Montauban before. This gave them the opportunity to fly for the first time.First phase : the exchange in France (from August 22 to 29 2015)- The young people from Montauban welcomed the young Moroccans in collective accommodation with shared tasks of daily living . The activities and the realization of three solidarity actions have been designed and prepared by the young people.- Work around the memory uses music as a mean for exchange and intercultural knowledge. It will result in the production of a musical box.Second phase : the exchange in Morocco (from 20 to 29 Aug. 2016)It corresponds to this file and is divided into three events :- Preparatory workThe work consisting in raising awareness to the cultural aspects will be carried out by the ADEN-S (habits and customs, everyday vocabulary, etc.), as well as an on-site planning visit.The use of New Information and Communication Technologies will continue to promote the quality of the exchange and the participation of all young people.The exchange in MoroccoDuring nine days, the young people will be staying in private homes, then they will be moved to collective structures (everyday tasks sharing, casual times, discussion forums, etc). The two central themes of the exchange will be :• Music : music workshops and rhythms, cultural visits, listening, cultural heritage, etc;• solidarity : implementation of three solidarity actions for diverse audiences, and promotion of human values, etc.The exchange will end with a musical parade through the streets of Larache to create a common entertainment sought by all young people. It connects the two themes and will be prepared throughout the exchange.- Post-exchange An event's recap is provided with a restitution (exposition, videos ...) prepared and presented by the young participants. It will be the occasion for a ceremony formalizing the YouthPass, their participation and reporting of the acquired skills. A time to raise awareness to mobility and European programs is also planned after the exchange.The project is fully in a process of inclusion and openness by the actors. It aims for a long term involvement and contributes to these young people future autonomy.
