In order to achieve an improvement in teaching methodologies and managerial skills, in the morning, during the mobility period, our teachers had been observing the teaching methodologies applied by their colleagues in the partner schools classrooms. Besides, the teachers observed new technologies use applied to foreign languages teaching. In the afternoon the participants attended a specific ICT course in order to improve their competences in new technologies applied to teaching. Furthermore, the observation of class group managing strategies by teachers in different school moments was relevant to acquire new competences in leading classes. ESSENTIAL has led to the following results: - Acquisition of new teaching methods, thanks to games and simulation - Acquisition of lesson plan procedures - Acquisition of the procedures for the adoption of new technologies applied to foreign languages teaching - using a language and multimedia laboratory - Acquisition of different class group managing strategies - Acquisition of the use and apply social networks to foreign languages teaching In addition the school staff has improved their managerial skills thanks to a direct experience working with the headmasters and staff of the partner schools in the UK. The participants' skills upgrade have been having a positive effect not only on the teachers and their expertise, but also on their motivation, leading teachers to experiment with new teaching methods in their classrooms as well. These new teachers' skills have been having a positive impact on students of our Institute promoting listening, speaking and writing activities. In the long term this project is leading to an improvement of our educational school system and at the local level, as it is allowing the incorporation of new educational tools within the curriculum of the institute.
