e-CIT – e-Craft Idea Tutor – Creative e-learning environment for craft sector

Based on the need for developing management skills in the handicraft and applied arts sector this project aims at developing and testing a creative e-learning environment for students at vocational institutes of the handicraft and design sector in Europe. Main focus of the e-learning content is to increase creativity and the use of new problem-oriented views to design more customer-friendly products by the means of a creative learning environment. The use of e-learning should bring new opportunities into traditional handicraft education, it renews and modernizes learning materials and can contribute to finding new product ideas and developing them into new product concepts based on history and cultural heritage. The project concentrates on handicraft and design areas which are based on manual skills and aim to produce goods for the customer markets (example of products: textile, wood, furniture, ceramics, metal works). The projects’ primary target group are students of vocational institutes of the handicraft and design sector, in second order also teachers of these institutions are targeted. Towards students specific products will be developed: a problem-oriented tool for searching new consumer-oriented product ideas, problem-oriented practices, a discussion forum and a user guide for the use of e-CIT environment. This electronic learning environment will be focused to teachers and trainers also. Dissemination of the results and outcome will be organised through a brochure in 6 languages, a website and web report and specific newsletters towards the target groups.
