Dwujęzyczność I LO przyszłością uczniów i nauczycieli
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

High School 1 in Konin is involved in project ‘Bilingual teaching-learning is the future of our students and teachers’ (01.08.2016 - 31.07.2018) in order to improve the quality of teaching by adjusting the educational offer to the needs of our students which concern the prospects of employment or studying both in Poland and abroad. Having in mind the aims, we are willing to work hard on improving the teachers’ (and other school workers’) language skills, which will contribute to to the development in two fields: the teachers will gain new language experience/competences, which may lead them to obtaining new qualifications. In this way, the school will be well-prepared to offer a new bilingual class; the teachers’ will also gain new methodological skills, which obviously improves the quality of their teaching methods. Approx. 15-24 teachers and other school workers are to take part in the project (language courses and methodological courses). The project allows some of the teachers to obtain new qualifications and the others to gain new skills, which is a key factor for the school if a new bilingual class is to be offered to students. The teachers who have obtained new qualifications will be encouraged to proceed and participate in CLiL courses in order to improve their language and subject teaching methods. The results are as follows: the development of school educational offer also by improving the standards of teaching and introducing the new offer of bilingual class; thanks to the participation of other school workers in the project, we hope to strengthen the pro-European attitude in the school environment; as there are approx. 50-60% of teachers taking part in the project, we expect to create proper conditions of teachers’ involvement in the bilingual class. The project is to influence the school environment: teachers - sharing experience, students – teaching methods used in lessons and more interesting educational offer for students in the next years as well as the local environment, both teachers and students who can be involved in our school project AGM (lessons for lower-secondary school students conducted by our teachers). As the development of the school is a priority for all the teachers so the project creates the opportunities of improvement for all the groups involved. Moreover, taking into consideration the fact that the local secondary schools do not offer a bilingual class whereas , there are two bilingual classes in lower-secondary schools, the project may contribute to the development of High School 1 in Konin but also to the development of the educational offer for all local students.
