Du hast die Wahl 2009 - Wahlprojekt für benachteiligte Jung- und Erstwähler in Deutschland und Polen
Start date: Dec 5, 2008,

2009 was the year when inhabitants of Thuringia have been asked four times to elect their political representatives for the municipal council, regional parliament (Landtag), national parliament (Bundestag) and the European Parliament. In its Polish partner region - Malopolska, as well as in all of the EU countries elections to the European Parliament were also taking place. 30 young people from Germany and Poland were qualified in a continuing training to run interactive workshops on the topic of importance of participation in the democratic society and political issues concerning upcoming elections. Workshops in vocational training centres and schools were taking place at four phases (three in Germany and one in Poland) proceeding the elections. The workshops were followed by discussion forums with politicians representing all the democratic parties running for elections. The workshops were, besides schools, also taking place in a reformatory, centre for people with disabilities, youth clubs, barracks of the armed forces or the town hall of a municipality. The project was accompanied with a cartoon-postcard and poster campaign "We vote!". There was also a website and various publications published in both of the languages.Website: www.du-hast-2009-die-wahl.de
