Don't Stop Believen'!
Start date: Dec 1, 2010,

The project called "Don't Stop Believin'" will take place in Romania, at the YMCA Baia Mare Association, starting December 2010 and ending in December 2011. The main objectives are: promoting active citizenship and volunteering, awareness of youth identity in an European context, mutual understanding, solidarity and tolerance, expression through art. All in all, through this project we want to keep our Youth Center alive, we want to promote its existence by making it a place where young people can share their ideas and their vision towards a bright future. Therefore, 2 EVS volunteers from two different countries (Armenia and Turkey) will work together with the Romanian youth community, encouraging youth to have an active life in their community, to develop their skills and discover their true potential. By using a learning-by-doing method we believe that youngsters will learn to participate in their community and extracurricular life. Also, the EVS volunteers will have the opportunity to conduct and coordonate their own workshops (painting, drama, singing, sports etc) at the YMCA youth center. They will understand the importance of a youth center, how to administrate and organise their work by participating at the weekly meetings with the local volunteers, the staff and the board. Also, our project will bring the opportunity for the EVS volunteers to understand solidarity, tolerance and diversity, by playing and taking care of a group of Roma kids (ages between 7-14) from the roma community, using non-formal methods as well, "learning to play" and "playing to learn".Moreover, the non-formal methods will help the youth of the community and also the EVS volunteers to become more responsible and aware about the world outside their community, learning to accept the interculturality and diversity.
