This is a bilateral youth exchange partnership between the Northern Ireland Deaf Youth Association and SINOSZ, Hungary. The project is for deaf young people aged 16 to 25 from various social, cultural and religion backgrounds from Northern Ireland and Hungary. The project will provide deaf young people with the social, communication and educational tools to understanding the rights of deaf people, the cultural diversity, the Sign Language differences between two countries; Northern Ireland and Hungary. The key objectives are: 1. To educate deaf young people to understand, explore and experiment the diversity of human rights between two countries; 2. To educate deaf young people to understand, explore and experience different cultures and languages between two countries; 3. To enable deaf young people to build positive relationships by participating together in cultural, sports and educational activities; 4. To build a bridge between two European Countries in terms of inter cultural learning, sharing good practice and promoting active citizenship. In both countries, the programme will see the involvement of participants attending seminars on the road to Sign Language recognition and legislation, visiting historical landmarks, and participating in social and sports activities provided by the local Deaf communities. The Gannt methodology will be used to carry out the project. Each activity and day will be throughly planned to detail by excellent cooperation and communication between the two partner organisations. There will be an evaluation process to determine the impact made and to determine whether the project objectives are achieved. The potential longer term benefits could shape the future of Sign Language being legalise in Northern Ireland due to information-sharing, support and advice from Hungary.
