Dissidence
Start date: May 3, 2016, End date: Nov 2, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

40 young persons from all over Europe will come together during 11 days for a new Hip Hop dance project called Dissidence. Croatia, Sweden, Portugal and France will be represented in this artistic exchange during which they will have the opportunity to reflect, co-create and build together a choreographic piece that will be centered on the topic of what it means to live together in Europe. The piece will be performed during TRAX festival on Saturday 4th, June 2016 at Le Fil, one of the biggest music venue in St-Etienne.With this project, we wish to use art as a medium to portray and highlight the diversity of the European community. In our vision, dance is a universal language through which messages as well as emotions can be conveyed. The main goal of this project is for young people of different cultural and social backgrounds to come together and exchange through the practice of dance in a collective and participative way, regardless of their technical level in dance. Indeed, we are after for the motivation and the zest for life that is such a characteristic of the youth. Their desire to be part of an adventure they have never experienced and that is based on meeting and sharing will be the cornerstone of this project. Through dance, young people will literally embody the values we wish to convey such as expanding beyond one's limits, perseverance, rigour, respect, solidarity and teamwork. Our artistic approach will be shaped by the group's technical abilities and preferences so as to foster the collective aspect of the project. That is what Hip Hop is about: to learn, to sweat, to give one's best, to fulfill oneself and ask for more !To share one's own experience and knowledge with others is the central focus of this project. Anyone can take part in it and be given the opportunity to discover the different steps of the creative process from an insider's perspective. Our collective approach clearly aims at amateurs who wish to develop their potential in the context of Europe, thus creating and strengthening the social and cultural link. To go ahead and put ourselves out into the world means to bring together the different components of our artistic vision: a youth-based social and cultural diversity at the heart of an artistic process of creation.
