Discovering the Venetian mainland: art, music and traditions
Start date: Apr 30, 2005, End date: Nov 29, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims at enhancing tourism and safeguarding the historical, cultural and folklore heritage of the municipality of Noale and of “Venetian mainland”. In this sense rediscovering the traditions, folklore, historical and archaeological wealth of this area is a strong incentive to the development of the so-called “thematic tourism” in the Italian-Slovenian cross-border area. The project fosters touristic-cultural cooperation with Slovenia, a “historical partner” of the municipality of Noale since the XIV century, when both were under the jurisdiction of the Count of Gorizia. In order to disseminate their common historical background, a historical costume event was organised in the context of the “Noale Summer” festival, and a second one is scheduled for the fall in the course of the so-called “Rosary Festival”. A DVD was also prepared to disseminate information on the architectural, cultural and artistic history of Noale, particularly with reference to the Castle, the Tower, and the Fortress of Noale. The video presents the most significant artistic examples to be found in this site, such as the Lancerotto Picture Gallery and the artistic heritage to be found in churches and squares; lastly, a tourist guide was prepared entitled “Noale the fortified town of the Tempesta” focusing on the town’s architecture and culture. The project aims therefore at enhancing, strengthening and re-qualify the local tourist offer. The various popular costume events organised in town serve to bring new to the smaller villages and towns in the Venetian mainland area through the retrieval of their common historical memory.
