Discovering Europe through Art and Literature

The project “Discovering Europe through Art and Literature” promotes the intercultural education and the common European values such as: tolerance, respect of the differences and of the cultural diversity, equality of chances, developing to disabled pupils the sense of their own identity in the new European context. It is meant for mentally disabled pupils who have got big problems with learning, are pathology threat and unadapted to society. Literature and Art of partner countries in the project is very rich and various. Essences and activities in the project are useful selected to approximate the diversity to mentally handicapped children. They are concentrated on fairy tales and national dance. Thanks to these subject-matters pupils will get to know other aspects of culture: customs, national holidays, costumes, songs and dishes. Activities in the project improve disabled children’s creativity, imagination and native talent and help to assimilate information about partner countries. During the project activities we will improve the quality of special education (using new methods and teaching skills). Our common work in the project, disseminating of its end products will include disabled children to society and break incomprehension barrier of mentally handicapped people’s world. The project encourages pupils in learning English and thanks to using ICT in the project they will learn to use internet and computer.
