Discover Working Life in Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015,
End date: May 31, 2017
It has become quite normal, not only for acadademically educated persons, to work in an international context. This can mean working abroad, having colleagues from many different countries and communicating with partners all over the world. These new challenges demand good language skills, tolerance and the ability to act in different cultural contextes.
"Discover Working Life in Europe" is aiming to increase the number of students at our school that are taking part in European exchange activities and to enhance European Ccitizenship. - Being a school with many different departments , we are happy to have found different partners to cooperate with. The French Lycée Professionnel will receive and place our students from the hotellery class, as we regularly do for their students. - Two colleges in Northern Ireland have also been reliable partners for our IT department. For the first time they are now planning to send two students for a work placement in Germany in summer 2016. - Our newest contact is a school in Czech Republic. They will be the partner of our department Health and Social Care. After a preparatory period an exchange of students will hopefully be established.
A total number of 15 students ( all fulltime students) from Berufskolleg Dieringhausen will get the chance to make a working and living experience abroad.
Regular classes as well as special meetings and reports of past participants will help to prepare the young people for their stay abroad. Monitoring will be assured by regular e-mail contacts and the support of the contact persons in the host country.
Staff training will give teachers the possilbility to learn about the different European systems in vocational training, school organization and teaching methods.
As a long term result we hope to establish an European Spririt a our school. Sending learners abroad and receiving learners from the partner countries should become part of our school profile. Students will profit personally as well through better chances on the labor market.
