Disability, Arts, Music and intercultural Education 2.0 - Media School
Start date: Jul 31, 2016,
End date: Nov 29, 2016
The Mobility of Youth Workers Project "DAME 2.0 – Media School” is designed as a 14 day training course to be held in Belarus in the Summer 2016 on the themes of Disability Awareness, Technology, Media and Photography. DAME 2.0 – Media School will host 55 participants from Ireland and Belarus inclusive of participants with special needs and fewer opportunities who over the duration of the training course will work together to explore disability using means of media and photography. DAME 2.0 – Media School arose from the results of the original DAME - Disability, Arts, Music and intercultural Education as a need to create a method to address disability through media. Across the world and especially in Eastern Europe there remains a need for dialogue on disability. This project has the potential to allow the key actors and stakeholders in this dialogue a structured facility to help address these issues. DAME 2.0 – Media School is designed to further develop the competencies of young people with special needs, their carers and community/youth workers, in order to raise awareness of disabilities and gain competencies in technology, media and photography thus raising the life possibilities for the young people involved and aid disability awareness from all participants and external actors through a ripple effect. We envision that the results of this project should be made public and add to the wider dialogue and understanding of disability. In the duration of the 14 days of the training course, participants will receive training on the topics of Disability Awareness, Ability, Erasmus+ programme and youth opportunities, Media, Photography and intercultural Education and development of small media based projects. Training will be carried out by four coordinating trainers in addition to group leaders and aided by a member of administrative staff. These activities will help create a lasting effect for the participants and enable them to continue activities at a local and international level.
