"Dis moi qui tu es, nous te dirons qui nous sommes"
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project will take place in Carmaux. This is a small town of 10 000 inhabitants located in the southwest of France , 90 km from Toulouse, 60 km from Rodez and 15 km from Albi. In former times, Carmaux used to have mostly an industrial activity which has decreased since the last decades. Today the city has been modernized and is now offering the image of a town in the countryside with all required facilities (shopping center, cinema, swimming pool, railway station, cultural centre…)The city is surrounded by an agricultural and rural area. The project will take place in both the rural and urban area along with children, young people, families, including also partners like cultural associations, schools…From a general point of view there is low standard of living in our local area. Various diagnoses were led and several issues were identified :loosening of the family link / school disengagement / teenager feel unwell and have little respect on themselves / increasing loss of confidence, have little respect on themselves / a lack of engagement in general and a relative passivity especially to identify all the opportunities for the territory / a rise of risk behaviours: addictions, alcohol, harassment / a lack of cultural and open mind and many obstacles to mobility. For all these reasons, we wanted to get involved in an EVS project called "Tell me who you are, we'll tell you who we are".The idea is to bring a new blow on the territory, to make us think all together on the reason why we are all living in the same land, no matter our culture or way of life, we are all here at the same time at the same place. This is the kind of wealth which can allow us to create such projects all together. The arrival of volunteers and the development of their mission should initiate a first step ahead to promote more exchanges, dialogue and meetings. The public from each structure should adopt a new behaviour by getting involved on such projects in an environment made of intercultural exchanges. This should bring a new vision on mobility and on how to live togetherVarious activities have been scheduled in the frame of the volunteers missions. Both volunteers will work together and meet children, teens, families, professionals in different places of the local Community. Each volunteer, in his hosting structure, will go deeper on each of the different themes during the project specific activities.Common-core for both volunteers: cultural openness and identity (ies)The objective of this project aspect is to discover and share the culture and identify of each participant. Thanks to the different people they'll be in touch with, volunteers will be able to conduct cultural, linguistic, sporting events, cooking workshops, artistic activities, etc.One volunteer will be welcome within the AJC association team which is deeply involved in non - formal education with children, teenagers and young adults. The association is developing 4 kinds of activities: - Preventive actions and fight against school dropout- Multiple leisure activities (outdoor cultural and sport activities, or dedicated projects)- After school education support (primary, middle and high school)- Management and animation of a Cyberbase The project has a strong educative orientation towards young people. Its purpose is to help developing learning skills, creativity and opening mindsOne other hosted volunteer will be involved as a team member of the Glass museum and will be working on the design of a pedagogic toolkit to be used during workshops dedicated to different audiences: public schools and people with fewer opportunities (adults becoming reintegrated in employment, people hosted in temporary accomodation, disabled persons). This pedagogic toolkit will be used by the Glass museum as a tool to promote the museum known-how outside the building. It will be a way to meet people that would never imagined going in such a place. This action will be combined with other activities within the Museum, especially with hosted artists (glass-blower, plastic artists ...)Several activities may be carried out with this ToolKit:- Introduction to the art of glass (creating objects with glass-blowers)- using the glass as a symbol : how to see our own image and the image of the other for example. A mirror could be used as a symbol for transparency and reflection, single and multiple identities by using masks…From a general point of view, the project will address subjects related to identity, tolerance, mutual respect, open-mindedness. These topics will be discussed from a transversal and partnership point of view. The pic of the all activities will be done with a final event, most probably done as a "European banquet". All the developped activities will take all their meaning during a presentation of each project done in front of all partners and participants.
