Our school (4th Senior high school of Kalamata) intends to produce an action plan within the framework of the EU program Erasmus + KA1 entitled "Towards a creative school with a European orientation". The plan was based on the school's needs in educational and teaching practices in the field of internationalization, as they were raised by the final report of the self-evaluation of our school unit in 2014. The aim of our project is to undertake the necessary improvement interventions both in teaching methodology and organizational level, in order to make our school a place of education where our students will come willingly and will acquire the necessary skills for adulthood. At the same time we would like to open our Lyceum to Europe and its culture. Teachers who intend to implement the action plan are conscientious professionals with high academic backgrounds who believe in the value of self-education and consider it a prerequisite of any positive intervention in the school area. Based on the needs we identified, the choice of school activities abroad was made. So three teachers (two philologists, and an IT teacher will conduct field job shadowing in two schools in Europe (Iceland and France) and will become familiar with the open class and new innovative methods in teaching their subjects respectively. Four teachers (philologist, sociologist, economist, theologian) are to attend the program "Forty Dragons" in Cyprus focusing on how cultural heritage is reflected in the various forms of artistic expression (poetry, visual arts, monuments). Three teachers (two philologists, chemistry professorl) will participate in an educational activity '' Structured Study Visit to Schools / Institutes & Training Seminar '', where they will be acquainted with educational practices in schools of secondary and vocational Finnish education where they will learn how classical teaching per course is replaced by the teaching of each subject, and they will get help to implement ways of interdisciplinary approach to their teaching subject, so that the students can appreciate more vocational education and training as a career choice in their lives. A philologist will attend the «ICT for teaching» program in Ireland. The objective of this program is the ability to integrate innovative methods in teaching in a creative way and offer practical guidance as regards to the integration of technological tools in the teaching practice. An English teacher in the activity entitled «Professional Development for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language Course» will pursue professional development in relation to the subject. Finally, the greek literature teacher who will attend the program Activate your English for Teaching will contact workshops will visit sites of historical and archaeological interest to develop communication skills for interacting with her students. The benefits to be gained by trainees of the activities should have a positive impact on their professional training, on their students and the school, which is expected to acquire all the elements that will give creativity and European dimension to it.
