The Kozani Saffron Producers Cooperative, as it is known is a unique product which is PDO and is established at national and European level. The cultivation has reached a very satisfactory level as well as the quantity produced. Also, the cultivated lands which thrives are specific and additionally year after year it is being partitioned. The only way out - Solution for an upswing of the Association and by extension its members is to develop new products based on saffron following practices of EU countries eg Spain.
The "Creation of new products on the basis of saffron, following successful examples (Best practices)" is addressed to the executive personnel of the Association focused on creating a (new) product by following the sequence of intermediate operations: market research, design and evaluation of the concept, design of new product, production, product quality control, promotion of new product on the market, price determination, advertising, etc.
Specific objectives of the project was to provide participants with basic knowledge to develop successful products and develop marketing skills to be able to promote the new product, investigate, analyze, evaluate current and future market needs to contribute to designing new products and services and the improvement of existing products and new Cooperative services.
General objectives of the project are specified in:
. Improving the competitiveness of the cooperative products
. Upgrading of service,
. Use of the newly acquired knowledge and skills to benefit their businesses and themselves,
. Increase productivity,
. Application of modern techniques and methods used by companies in international markets
