DigiCLIL for European Skills Apprendimento digitale e didattica CLIL per il rinnovamento metodologico in chiave europea.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Comprehensive School Laives 1 is located in the town of Laives, just a few miles from Bolzano, the capital of Southtyrol, an autonomous bilingual province (Italian and German) where cultural exchange and language learning are an integral part of the identity of citizens. In Southtyrol the certification of bilingualism (Italian-German) is a requirement of preference and / or access to the world of work. The Institute is composed of three primary schools located throughout the area (with a total of about 300) and a secondary school degree (about 350 students) located in the town of Laives. In the Institute teach 90 teachers. The annual survey of learning (tests INVALSI) and the analysis of results (Improvement Plan 2013 and 2014) show that students are able to achieve the national objectives, but the problems that emerged in some items and processes show that our students need more integrated learning and trans-curricolar approaches for the achievement of significant learning and the development of basic skills for life. On this basis the IC Laives 1 is developing a Plan for the renewal of teaching methods aimed to make teachers use ICT tools, CLIL and Inclusive approaches. The project European DigiCLIL for European Skills is the operational heart of the school strategic renewal plan. The project intends to upgrade 3 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning (Digital competence / Communication in foreign languages/ Learning to learn) thought mobility actions (Jobshadowing in schools of three partner countries and courses abroad). The goal of the DigiCLIL project is to develop teachers educational and pedagogic tools in four main areas listed below. Therefore all the teachers of IC Laives 1 will : 1. acquire / enhance the use of digital technologies for teaching-learning 2. enhance the teaching skills within the methodological CLIL 3. acquire / enhance techniques and methodologies centered on the student (with a view cooperative and inclusive) and intended to develop skills in learning basic (mother tongue, mathematics, science) 4. develop the European dimension of learning, with the exchange of practices with the partner schools and the knowledge of the education systems of Sweden and Spain The project, lasting two years, will enable the 20% of the teachers of the school to participate in activities of comparison and methodological exchange. Each year of project 12 teachers are attending three weekly activities of jobshadowing (one in each of the three partner schools) and 6 teachers are attending courses abroad on CLIL and ICT Teaching. During the weekly jobshadowing activity the hosting schools agreed to organize seminars, conferences and in-depth workshops on the following topics of interest: CLIL, ICT and methodological approaches for INCLUSION. The IC Laives 1 has defined criteria for the teachers involved in the mobility based on availability, motivation, experience and language skills. Participants are asked to test the methods learned in class, to produce open source material and to host colleagues to allow the spreading of the experience. Mobility activities and exchange between teachers will be preceeded from the deepening of the foreign language of communication, from the study of the school system of the partner country, by the formation of curricula, work plan and subjects taught. E-Twinning is going to be used throughout the project. For the duration of the project partners will be in contact to prepare for the events of mobility and to follow the dissemination of experience and the follow-up activities. This will be evaluated in terms of practical implementation of learning units with CLIL methodologies, ICT teaching and INCLUSIVE approaches. The experiences produced will be documented and publicized in the E-twinning platform and exchanged between partners. A site specially dedicated (digiclil.eu) will host the synthesis of experiences and teaching materials produced during the project. The project will end in May/June 2017 with a final conference where some teachers of the partner schools are invited to submit to the board the results of the project. The event will be followed by videoconference in the partner schools to produce greater impact and sharing. It is expected that over three years, at the end of the project, a significant number of teachers of the IC Laives1 uses methods, tools and pedagogical approaches tested in Europe to improve the quality of basic learning and school life of teachers and students. This will be documented with the publication of a report on the experience accompanied by working materials available on-line. (learning units-open learning material).
