Die Arbeit als Erzieher: Ein Vergleich zwischen Spanien und Deutschland
Start date: Aug 31, 2016, End date: Aug 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ exchange project offers to our vocational school for Education and Social Matters the possibility for a European orientation and an optimization of the practical and professional structures of the educator apprenticeship in international comparison. Furthermore, the nursery schools in our area will benefit from the European character of this project. According to demographic changes, the groups in nursery schools will show more and more intercultural diversity and the meaning of a successful integration of refugees and children with migration background in our society will increase. The participants of this project on the one hand are fifteen highly motivated students in the second year of their educator apprenticeship which they are doing parallel to the German Abitur. Most of the students are socially deprived but have good grades in the subjects Spanish and Practice. On the other hand, the project includes the deployment of teachers, especially the Spanish teachers. They do not have specific knowledge about exchange programmes but they appreciate the international relations and the exchange of structures of apprenticeship and curricula. In Spain the pupils will attend school for one week and for the following six weeks they will do an internship in Spanish nursery schools, where they will have to put into practice different learning agreements and activities, together with the children and Spanish colleagues. Their results and reflections will be documented in a portfolio. During the whole stay all students will be accommodated in host families and they will participate in various cultural activities. Due to authentic communicational situations and the occupational use of the Spanish language at work, the pupils will be highly motivated and will increase their communication skills immensely. The accompanying teachers will not only supervise the pupils but they will also sit in the partner school’s classes, will visit the nursery schools and will have many reflectional conversations with the Spanish colleagues and staff members. Contents will be the contrast of the different structures in education and in apprenticeship in Germany and Spain, methods of learning and teaching and the extension of the exchange project. With a visit of Spanish students and teachers in Germany in the next application period both schools will benefit from an optimization of pedagogical and didactic skills. Above all, all project members improve their organizational competences which leads to an extension and distribution of the project and creates a network between the partners which supports the qualified apprenticeship of educators on a European level.
