Didaktische Modernisierung des bilingualen Zweiges
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Jun 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The modern secondary school Realschule am Buchenberg, Steinfurt, Germany provides a bilingual branch in years 5 to 10. The subjects Geography and History are taught in the English language, starting from year 7/8. The teachers, Mrs Münsterkötter (English/History) and Mr Kovermann (English/Geography) have urgent needs in improving their teaching and methodology skills. The expected outcome of the project is a modernisation of the bilingual subjects due to pupils with other needs. This leads to the conclusion that their teachers must provide different teaching techniques and teaching practices. The British Study Centres in Oxford which is accredited by the British Council offers a two-week programme that is aimed at secondary education teachers from the EU. During the course, participants are exposed to a range of teaching practices and methodologies. The participants will bring their specialist needs to the course. After the summer holidays 2015 the bilinugal lessons in Geography and History will be modernised and updated, using the new knowledge and competences from the Oxford course. There will be an evaluation (questionnaire and classroom talk). Future teachers in the bilingual branch will be instructed by the participants.
