Devising models, methods of forest health forecasting based on the Earth remote sensing technologies
Start date: Apr 2, 2013, End date: Dec 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The objective of the project is to to standardize age and forester-specific structure of the forest resources and ensure the inspection of the forest health conditions across the Republic of Karelia by predicting the state of the forests health on the basis of mathematical modeling and remote sensing technologies. Expected Results: Karelian forestry businesses and wood-using enterprises will be provided with the standardized base of forest resources and raw materials. The forest complex of the Republic of Karelia will get the opportunity to use contemporary sensing technologies.General population of the Republic of Karelia will be provided with new possibilities for long-term employment due to the forest exploitation optimization.Besides that, substantial changes will be introduced into the forest policy of the Republic of Karelia and improve ecological situation.
