Start date: Mar 31, 2009, End date: Jun 29, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the interests of sustainable development, the partners aim to promote hemp as renewable raw material. Therefore, they study whether it can be used to make composite materials. They develop a process for integrating hemp fibres into polymer matrices (PVC and polyolefins) to create materials with applications in the automotive, construction, furniture and ship building industry. To meet the needs of many industry sectors in the cross-border area, they develop an expertise in the field of composite materials with polymers and natural fibres. Particular attention is paid to the technologicaltransfer to the businesses in the area. The Walloon and French partners are complementary in their know-how. Together, they can offer a useful and valuable expertise to the plastics and composites manufacturing, processing and user industries in thecross-border area.
