Development of Web Based Skill Tools in the Wood Technology Branch in the EU - DEWEBAS

The DEWEBAS project will develop a web-based skills mapping tool, at apprentice level, specific to the wood technology sector. The tool will allow the comparison of the skills required to enter continuing education and training and will be aimed at ministries, vocational schools and individual learners. A further focus of the project will be that of related education or training credit. The target group of the project are employees in the furniture industry considering European mobility, in addition to European employers, vocational schools and sector-based organisations. Activities will comprise establishment of a project database to hold related skills data, development of a web-tool to host the developed graphic skills profiles and a pilot phase with end user groups. The primary project result will a web-based skills tool mapping all achievable skills within the woodowrking and furniture industry and allowing a comparison of the skills achieved in one country against those achieved in the same sector in another European country. Dissemination will rely upon continuous promotion of project activities and achievements, upon the relase of articles to relevant press and journals and upon the hosting of an end project conference.
