DEVelopment Of Trainers in EDucation
Start date: Dec 1, 2009,

DEVOTED wants to foster, improve, deepen and broaden the competencies (knowledge, attitudes, skills) of professionals involved in teaching, training and guidance of disadvantaged target groups by collecting, selecting, standardizing, finalizing, disseminating and exploiting pedagogical and didactic good practices to keep the educational system as attractive as possible and prevent students from dropping out.During the last decade there have been a large amount of European projects focused on the development of tools, methodologies and instruments oriented on working with disadvantaged young adults. Main goal has been to decrease the number of early school leavers, in line with the Lisbon strategy. Until now there is no systematic approach to collect good practices and make them transferable, accessible and standardized. DEVOTED is the first step towards a European Centre of Excellence and thus aims at collecting existing good practices in the following thematic fields:-intercultural communication, gender and diversity;-key, social and citizenship competencies; -creative skills and ICT competencies.DEVOTED will create an easily accessible stock of standardized good practices for all professionals, working with disadvantaged target groups. The stock or inventory is used to raise awareness and upgrade the competencies of professionals to improve the teaching process. The project products (good practices, inventories and booklets) will be disseminated and exploited by: -an online, interactive platform (web site);-regional dissemination meetings in the six involved countries;-broad publications and information in the consortium and the partners' networks;-incorporation of the good practices into in the curricula and methodologies of partners and their networks;-the set up of three mobile teams of experts based on a train-the-trainer concept for training, guidance and advice.
