Development of Technical Skills
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jul 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main reason that we want to carry out this project is the recent merge of our service garages and sales teams for Iveco, Scania and CAT. Due to the economic crisis, we had to go though a major restructuring in order to survive. It has been difficult for our staff to cope with all the different brands and they need to be properly trained. The need of this project is to train the managers of the company in more than one brand so that they are able to develop the technical skills and knowledge of our staff. Another reason is the future excavation of natural gas in Cyprus, which provides opportunity for development for our company, as we have professional machines and tools that can be used for this. We need to provide all relevant technical training to our employees in order to be better prepared for this new field of business. In this project 9 persons from our management team will participate. They have been trainers with over 5 years of experience and also have the relevant academic background and the employment experience to train their teams effectively. Through the program which is provided by HRDA as mentioned above, they have developed skills to acknowledge the weaknesses of each employee and help them to them improve and develop. To be more specific, we train our managers as internal examiners through an HRDA program and they provide certifications to our staff for sales of technical skills through a process of on the job assessment. The main activities that we are planning to organize is firstly the cooperation for the whole procedure with our partners. Secondly, to find our major development needs and the relevant training session that is applicable for every brand. Thirdly, we will collaborate with our partners about what is more important to attend and prioritize our needs. After that we have to discuss with managers when they are available to travel so we will book the flights and hotels as per our partners instructions. The partners will organize the training session with the relevant instructors and send invitations to the agents worldwide. Moreover they will organize workshops where the participants will discuss between them the difficulties they face with troubleshooting vehicles or machines and what can they do to resolve them. Furthermore they will make the necessary arrangements for transportation of the participants. At the end they need to organize mandatory meeting with each participant to discuss the future plans for each region and provide them with their certificates. The expected impact on the participants is to gain expertise and hand-on experience from the suppliers abroad, in order to deepen their understanding of the fundamentals each brand has in order to be able to promote the brands better and provide excellent after sales service support and customer service. Additionally our managers will get better prepared for the future excavation of natural gas on our island, and learn the technical requirements needed for our professional machines and tools and how these can be utilized. The goal is to be the the leader in the industry of vehicles, professional tools and machines and be prepared for the future changes of natural gas so we can provide the necessary expertise to our staff.
