Development of key skills in new analysing methods in environment friendly car engines and evaluating methods for teaching and learning of these skills

In line with EU environmental directives, the project will develop an internet-based learning platform to allow students in the car maintenance/repair industry to accurately read and interpret EOBD (European On Board Diagnostic System) emissions from cars. The internet platform will also provide students with a means of assessing their own progress in accurately measuring and interpreting EOBD emissions. This resource will also be available to teachers so they are able to monitor student progress and in turn evaluate the success of their own teaching. An additional user group are existing employees working in car repair companies. The internet platform will be grounded in self-study and will include a simulated car on which students can put into practice their training on EOBD emissions. Given that different partner countries have varying levels of access to teaching equipment and methods related to EOBD emissions, the online learning platform offers equality of access to all users. Online material will be available in the languages of the partner countries as well as English. The project's study materials will be tested during the project by the project partners and feedback from students and teachers will inform necessary product revision. During the course of the project, partners will meet to impart new information in relation to EOBD emissions for different and new car models and with regard to new teaching methods. Dissemination and marketing of the project's learning platform will largely be through the project website and through vehicle/transportation exhibitions, seminars and workshops.
