Development of inclusive Education (A School for all)

Development purposes of the project are to promote educational conditions of vulnerable people (such as with special educational needs, immigrants, juvenile offenders, Roman population, other groups ‘at risk’), to improve their accessibility and participation in society and to promote their social contacts in joint activities. Overall objective of the project is to improve access to and participation in education for persons considered as vulnerable by lowering barriers and creating a multicultural learning environments to contribute into efficiency of cooperation between cultural and educational organizations of the North Calotte and North-West Russia, and to implement support mechanisms for joint research, education and development of Inclusive education (IE). Achievements: In Russia, the project implementation had a significant impact on the process of regional educational system modernization. Project contributed to improvement of regional legislative frameworks in the field of inclusive education and strengthened and extended the interactions between educational institutions of the region. The administration of the pilot schools has been able to extend their perception about inclusive practices. This allowed to clarify the strategy of inclusive education implementation in each concrete school. Teachers who implement inclusive practices had an opportunity to get acquainted with the results of modern research in the field of inclusive education, test new inclusive practices in their daily work and translate their personal experience of inclusive education. The number of teachers who got acquainted with the inclusive education and started to use inclusive practices has increased. Regional administrations in Murmansk and Arkhangelsk were able to extend their representations about opportunities of inclusive education in educational institutions of the regions. Research made during the project will develop the teacher education in the universities. In Finland, some of the research work directly contributes to the work of the Faculty of Education at University of Lapland. There will be changes and modifications in the new curriculum (2015-)
