Development of hydrotechnical works for protection against floods in the cross border area on the Mures River (HYDRODEV)

The aim of the project is to strengthen cross-border cooperation between water management institutions, to improve the infrastructure for flood and water contamination prevention. The project accomplishes the improvement of the safety of the sluice, improvement working conditions for the staff, building a service road. Activities carried out during the 24 month timeframe: project management, communication activities, public procurements and investments.The general objective of the project is strengthen cross-border cooperation between water management institutions to improve the infrastructure for flood and water contamination prevention. The direct target group is represented by the guards and their families that are working and living in the 3 guardhouses from Romania and 3 guardhouses from Hungary as well as the flood prevention staff from the two sides of the border (about 50 peoples in each country) having an increased reaction speed due to the more effective transmission of the information and the easier access to the structure for protection. The project team is also a part of the target group gaining experience in implementing joint projects and in their profession, exchanging experience and finding common solutions to the possible problemsThe main specific activities of the project are: Romanian side: elaboration of the technical plan and for obtaining the permits and the construction permits; construction works; visibility activities; Hungarian side: construction works; visibility actions. Expected Results: Main results: increased intervention efficiency and environmental safety in the area; 1 reconstructed sluice; 6 rehabilitated guardhouses; information technology equipment purchased; maintenance equipment purchased; 1 atomizer; 2234 m road and approach ramp built.
