Development of European Languages For Imigrants
Start date: Nov 1, 2010,

A very important component for a successful integration of migrants is to learn the language in the new country. Currently there are major flaws in the methods for accelerated learning of new languages especially for illiterate migrants. The overall aim for the DELFI project is to give better conditions and variation in the linguistic learning and hence contribute to a better integration for migrants. The consortium consists of 6 partners from Sweden, Norway, UK, France and Italy. The first part of the development process is ongoing in 3 different Work Packages (WP) modules. WP 1 Diversity based learning WP 2 community based learning and WP 3 Work placed learning. Two or tree partners are responsible for one WP. In this different environment shall materials and methods be developed? After that they shall be tested in the other countries during the second part of the project. . The result shall be presented on a Web-site for the project. The project shall organize a set of training units for trainers who will be involved in the project in order to make them aware of the transnational level and of the importance of their job as facilitator of integration for themigrant communities. The project shall be able to link the learning outcomes to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, and Assessment, abbreviatedAs CEFR. The outcome will be a portfolio of different learning materials as videos or other presentations, a handbook for teachers and curricula. The methods/instruments and products can be used in the different countries as a standard to learn a second language.
