Development of Co-operation in Order to Improve Histopathological Diagnostics of Breast Cancer and Colorectal Cancer in the Polish-Belarusian Borderland (IPBU.03.01.00-20-103/10)

The problem that is facing the Polish-Belarusian borderland is linked to the lack of specialist medical equipment for breast cancer and colorectal cancer treatment. As such, the Lead Partner established the overall objective of the project as that of establishing a lasting form of co-operation between health maintenance organisations of the Polish-Belarusian borderland in order to increase the detection rate of breast cancer and colorectal cancer and to enhance treatment quality of these diseases.The project will thus concentrate on the real needs of the target groups and final beneficiaries of the borderland through the purchase and installation of modern energy-saving medical equipment, creation of patient database, biobank and telepathology and carrying out two research programmes on breast and colorectal cancer. Expected Results: The achievements of the project are therefore linked to the improvement of medical infrastructure in the borderland area, increasing the level of competence among the medical staff and decrease in breast and colorectal cancer morbidity rate through the incorporation of up-to-date medical equipment to be used on both sides of the border.
