Development of an Integrated Monitoring System on the River Drava

On the section of the Drava River which is of joint interest for Croatia and Hungary an inspection of the systems for testing the hydrological, qualitative and ecological changes that are in use separately in each country, and developing a project for an integrated monitoring system which shall provide services in accordance with the Directive 2000 /60 /EC, and serve the interested local self-governing bodies of the region, civil groups, the local population, water tourism and other water users etc., as well as others in the region that occupy space which gravitates towards the river (forest economies, recreational-fishing associations, etc.) Achievements: The project shall result in an Internet website in Hungarian and Croatian that will provide the interested parties with an opportunity to constantly monitor the hydrological (quantity), chemical (qualitative) and ecological state of the river and its basin. Based on the planned studies and the analyses conducted within the project as well as developmental plans defined by the design of the monitoring system, a remodeling of existing stations and the construction of new stations (observation points) will follow both on the Croatian and the Hungarian side.
