Development of a European approach for parents' critically reflected dealing with media

For years a train has been approaching us that we cannot stop. But we can accompany it with responsibility. In this train parents are sitting who are afraid of the endless load of new media their children grow up with. A world, children can easily get lost in. To avoid that, they need to rely on strong parents. Parents dealing with the media and who reflect the media behaviour of their children critically. The current state of research, the view on and experiences in Europe with the phenomenon „media and online addiction“, however, are most different. Thus, we need a joint learning in a process-oriented, specialised exchange searching for common solution approaches in Europe. We activate this development process through a learning partnership consisting of a consortium of 4 institutions from Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Germany. A result will be that not only these organisations exchange. In addition an active exchange and learning process between the parents will take place.A first analysis of the current state of all partners opens us the market of opportunities. We will develop a common, preventive, tested concept of a European parents’ media training strengthening sustainable parents in Europe. On www.parents-lan-in-europe.eu the results are documented and the parents have the possibility to continue their exchange after the end of the learning partnership in a forum and particularly to extend their co-operation to other European countries. Therefore we consider our learning partnership as a concept that shall help to accompany the development process of parents in Europe informally.
