Developing Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Partnerships across the Curriculum
Start date: Jan 15, 2010,

This project will support universities in Jordan and Lebanon and other universities in the EPNI (south) region to build capacity and infrastructure to deliver programmes of service-learning across the curriculum in higher education by focussing specifically on those areas of curriculum need identified by regional and national prioities i.e. curriculum reform and enhancement in education, environmental sciences, health sciences, human rights, technology and engineering. It will achieve this, significantly, through the training of managerial, administrative and academic staff and the preparation and training of students. In addition, the development and codification of service-learning policy and practice complements the training. At the heart of the project is the realisation of a service-learning curriculum that harmonises with EU quality and credit frameworks. Finally, because service-learning is about bringing value to local communities then the development of effective community engagements is a cental and continuous feature of the project.
