Developing New Basic Skills at the Work Place through the Use of Internet-based Problem Solving Role-play

The project will develop an internet-based training tool to enhance the basic skills of employees in relation to computer-based technology, communication skills, entrepreneurship and the use of foreign languages. The project targets employees with low or minimal levels of formal education and low levels of ICT knowledge who are in danger of marginalisation and unemployment. Computer-based, problem-solving role play will be used to develop and to enhance the basic skills of the target group for which project partners will be required to gather case studies of real life employment situations and dilemmas. Partners will also be involved in the training of trainers in the use of the developed web-based training tool and in the development of guidelines for users. The training material will be evaluated at a local level through workshops and through course monitoring and will be adapted to accommodate problems specific to the project’s two chosen sectors (health care & tourism). Project partners will publish a handbook to disseminate information on the project to a wide range of training professionals and will focus upon those involved in the Leonardo mobility programme. The handbook will be made available in EN and the participating partner languages as a downloadable file, in hypertext and in printed form. The websites of the project partners will each provide a link to the handbook.
